Greetings.
sorry for the time between posts, internet access has been spotty at best since we're typically out in the small towns and countryside. We're having a great time, averaging around 50 miles per day. the weather has been phenominal as well which is a big help!
so far we've gone through the coast of the netherlands, Brugge. Gent, Mechelen, Westerlo, and are now in Hasalet, Belgium. torrow we'll cross into germany and eventually head south down the Rhine.
here is a link to all of the pictures from the trip so far. this seems like a nice way to share with all of you: http://picasaweb.google.com/104484993780229620201
some notable occurences from the first week:
Herring are not good the way they eat them in the Netherlands!
Bicycling in the Netherlands is the best i've ever seen... bike lanes, bike traffic signals, etc.
We found a mini-hedge hog at out camp spot... sadly we found him the next day wrapped up tight between the groundsheet and our tent in a saddle bag dead!! darwinism at work!
The bakerys in Europe are treemendous!!
We hope you're all doing well, wherever you may be. We'll try and be a bit more timely with our next updat... its hard though with all the beautiful scenery to take in, food to eat (I consistently pick better danishes than Heather!!), and beer to drink!
Mitch and Heather
Mitch, I hope you and Heather have an amazing trip. Say hi to the Helsens on your way through Belgium.
ReplyDeletewe liked the photos-especially the Heineken wagon and the condomeria! wow we don't have those in BC. what great photos. too bad about the hedgehog-it must have been cold! we are all fine- gloomy and rainy today. everyone is interested in where you are and what you are seeing. yesterday we ate bkfst at Kzaks and dinner at the turkey roost. What a day!

ReplyDeleteHi! So awesome to hear from you!! I think I may change my vote on 'lose weight' to 'gain weight' sorry - but sounds like you are drinking a lot of beer and eating a lot of pastries!! HAHA! Miss and love you guys!! XOXO
ReplyDeleteSounds like you y'all are off to a good start! I'm jealous. Keep the rubber side down and Heather, please double check Mitch's directions (Magellan could get you seriously lost in Europe...I don't want to hear that you are all of a sudden posting from Africa or Siberia)
